Niue to Tonga Passage

Well, as you have probably gathered by now, we absolutely loved Niue! Our next ports will have a lot to live up to. Like all good things, this one had to come to an end so we hoisted sail and pointed our bows West in search of our next amazing adventure.

Starting with a beautiful sunset to chase across the horizon

The boys trying to get an extra knot of boat speed - they were keen to race our good friends on Skylark

Though the crew spent way too much time lazing around and not scrubbing the decks or trimming the sails as per captains instructions..

Waiting for that monster Mahi Mahi…

You can tell it started off a good passage, all the crew did was sit around and eat all day

Unfortunately, It wasn’t all sweet sailing, day 2 the rain and squalls headed our way. No worries there, but during a tack we heard a bang and a piece of our mainsail track broke free from the mast - fortunately landing on the deck. Downside of this was we couldn't reef or lower the main until it was fixed. As we nervously watched the squalls roll over G climbed up onto the boom and temporarily remounted it. Yay, good enough to get us the rest of the way to Tonga - one more thing to fix down the track..

Does he look happy? Lollypop for a job well done

Land Ho! Welcome to Tonga!
